Summer school on the sociolinguistics of multilingualism

This summer school – or intensive training – aims to offer a panoramic view of the fields of study, the methodological tools and frameworks available, in sociolinguistics, to address issues of multilingualism. On-the-job training sessions per area are offered, alternating courses with literature reviews and practical workshops. The fields represented include: Societal multilingualism, Multilingual repertoires, Heterogeneous language Practices. Analytical tools are provided through conversation analysis, as well as epistemological reflection on doing fieldwork in Southern contexts and (post)colonial situation. A number of themes are discussed: Linguistic ideologies, Multilingual education, Linguistic policies, Multilingualism and transnational mobility etc.
